Jay Cullen

Jay Cullen is a Research Scholar at the Global Institute for Sustainable Prosperity and Professor of Banking Law and Financial Regulation at the University of York. He is also Adjunct Research Professor of Law at the University of Oslo Law Faculty.

Jay’s research focuses on the regulation of financial institutions, especially banks. He has published widely on financial stability, banking and climate change and the corporate governance of financial institutions. His work has been cited by, amongst others, the Bank of England, Financial Times and European Commission. He has consulted widely for NGOs and law firms.

Jay has held visiting positions at Columbia University, and the University of Oslo. He is an associated expert at the Institute for New Economic Thinking, and Finance Watch, associate fellow of the Sheffield Political Economy Research Institute (SPERI) and a member of the network, Sustainable Market Actors for Responsible Trade (SMART). Jay is also co-founder and co-Director of the Law and Money Initiative, a new research collaboration which aims to improve understanding of the relationship between law and money through collaboration, education and scholarly research.
