Lauren Sabo is a Research Fellow at the Global Institute for Sustainable Prosperity. Born and raised in Chagrin Falls, Ohio, Lauren graduated from Denison University in 2011 with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and Anthropology. With a heart for service, Lauren joined the 2011 Teach for America Corps and began her teaching career in Denver, Colorado, as a high school multi-intensive special education teacher. In this role, she was inspired to serve the unique needs of her students and families. However, recognizing that many of the issues they faced could be best addressed with legal advocacy, Lauren decided to attend law school and earned her Juris Doctorate and Masters in Public Policy and Administration degrees from The Ohio State University in May 2018. Her experience working with youth as an educator, CASA Guardian as Litem, and a legal intern in the Justice for Children Clinic furthered her passion to assist underserved youth. Currently, Lauren serves as The Greif Fellow in Juvenile Human Trafficking, working with youth providing legal representation and advice to child victims of human sex and labor trafficking in Ohio. This year-long fellowship provides the opportunity for Lauren to combine all of her experiences and educate the community while zealously serving her clients in obtaining protection orders from the court to ensure victims’ safety from their traffickers, helping undocumented victims adjust their immigration status, and keeping families together in cases where victims have children. After the completion of her fellowship, Lauren plans to continue to work with youth, focusing on advocating for vulnerable populations.
