Panayotis Giannakouros

Panayotis Giannakouros is a Research Scholar at the Institute for Sustainable Prosperity, an adjunct faculty member in economics at Mary Baldwin University and is Systems Adviser and Research Associate at the Center for Computational Mathematics and Modeling at James Madison University. He develops and applies data science methods and political economy approaches to problems of institutional change and sustainable prosperity, particularly at the municipal level. His regional focus is Virginia’s Shenandoah Valley where he has contributed to the development of policies, ordinances, and proposed state legislation and has brought renewed attention to Virginia’s 1880’s Readjuster movement. He presents his work at economics and statistics conferences and has refereed publications in statistics, methodology, and the scholarship of teaching and learning. He received his Ph.D. at the University of Missouri-Kansas City under the supervision of James Sturgeon.
