Patricia Pino

Patricia Pino is a Research Fellow at the Global Institute for Sustainable Prosperity, a Chartered Engineer specialising in Building Physics and a part-time Artist. She has belonged to a number of political organisations such as the UK Labour Party, and is a former board member of Republic UK. She currently focuses on economics activism by offering talks and by producing educational material in the form of articles, videos and podcasts. She has written a number of articles for various grassroots outlets and professional organisations touching upon subjects such as economics, sustainability, arts u0026amp; culture and gender equality in the engineering profession. And is currently investigating ways to apply job guarantee initiatives at local government level with a special emphasis on Sustainability and green initiatives. She also co-hosts the MMT Podcast, a grassroots initiative which aims to provide campaigners and lay people with the MMT perspective on current UK and worldwide issues. Patricia is a founder member of the grassroots outlet Reknr Mag in the UK.

With over ten years experience in Computational Fluid Dynamics, Energy and Sustainability, Patricia has worked on a number of notable projects including the Petronas Floating LNG Facilty in Australia (at the time of construction the largest of its kind in the world), the Swansea Tidal Lagoon (a pioneering energy project in Wales) and had a leading role in the optimisation of internal comfort conditions in 2022 Qatar Football World Cup stadia with the aim of minimising energy consumption and carbon emissions. She currently leads the pedestrian wind assessment capabilities at Hoare Lea Ltd, and has provided advice on the reduction of energy consumption to clients such as the Metropolitan Police and RBS ltd.

Patricia has featured as a panellist in the 2nd Annual MMT Conference in New York (2018) and in the 1st Annual European MMT conference in Berlin (2019), where she shared her experiences about the effective use of social media channels to disseminate economics knowledge and campaign for a job guarantee in the UK.
